Leaving Vernon, travel south for 53 km (33 mi) through the awe-inspiring landscapes of Lake Country. The vistas continue to captivate as you pass by Kalamalka, Wood and Ellison Lakes, each more breathtaking than the last.

Shortly, you may start to see planes taking off or landing. This is the Kelowna International Airport, and the first indication that you have reached the largest city in the Okanagan: Kelowan.

Take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, delight in the offerings of craft breweries downtown, or immerse yourself in scenic wine tours that showcase the region’s renowned vineyards.

Continuing on your gastronomic voyage, follow the signs that lead you along Okanagan Lake, offering one of the most picturesque drives in the area. Cross the William R. Bennett Bridge, spanning Okanagan Lake, and arrive in West Kelowna, a suburb of Kelowna, where you can visit even more vinyards.

A short drive south, continuing on Highway 97, brings you to the smaller communities of Peachland, followed by Summerland. Be sure to pause and embrace the Valley lifestyle. Relax on the numerous beaches, visit charming wineries, and relish the abundance of fruit stands that dot the route.

As you journey south, 42 km (26 mi) from West Kelowna, you’ll arrive in Penticton, nestled between two sparkling lakes. Bask in the beauty of sandy beaches, embark on a cycling adventure along the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, or indulge in tastings of beer, wine, or cider in the heart of downtown or along the scenic Naramata Bench.

Continuing further south, just 20 km (12.5 mi) from Penticton, lies Oliver, the agricultural hub and renowned as Canada’s Wine Capital. This picturesque town is surrounded by vineyards, boasting almost half of the province’s vines and over 45 wineries.

Finally, at the US Border, you’ll reach the desert town of Osoyoos, where a warm welcome awaits. Immerse yourself in authentic Indigenous experiences, unwind in one of Canada’s warmest lakes, and explore the acclaimed red wine country.
